Expectations
HOME - SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP
It is essential that effective partnerships between home and school are established at the earliest opportunity. If you have a concern about your son/daughter’s welfare please raise this in the appropriate manner through contact with your child's Form Tutor.
At Raynes Park High School we have a strong Pastoral Team and are very aware of the need to care for the social and emotional well-being of every student. Please be assured that if a student is upset or concerned by any event in school we will look into the incident and provide support and take necessary action if required.
attendance & punctuality
Resilience and Results are at the forefront of our push on school attendance and punctuality.
All students should aim for 96% attendance to school because students with the highest attendance throughout their time in school gain the best GCSE and A level results.
Students with an attendance of below 90% take a day off every fortnight on average and are categorised by the government as a ‘persistent absentee’. Students who fall into the habit of poor attendance could find that colleges and employers will not permit such attendance and it is the responsibility of parents/carers and the school to ensure that students do not take time off unless it is absolutely necessary.
Our attendance expectations are outlined in full here
In the morning, key messages are disseminated from tutors and a Pastoral curriculum is taught through planned assemblies and tutor time. The school expects all students to be ready to enter school at 8.35am to receive this, and the gates to the site close at 8.40am, after which, a student is ‘late’.
Students who do not get to school by the correct time each day will receive a 1 hour detention on that day. This system makes it easier for students and families to understand the consequences put in place by the school if a student is late.
Students require resilience in using transport in London and should understand the need for foresight and planning to counter delays or changes to services as adults do when they enter the world of work.
